Really Bad milage
Ok I boutght a used 2001 F250 4X4 Short Bed Crew Cab 7.3 w 32k miles Dec 22 2004. I went out of town and started to drive it three weeks ago when I got home and get 7-8 MPG (7 city 8 highway). I took it to a deisel mechanic in town and he ran the diagnostics and it all passed (I wanted to know if there was a problem before I took it to the dealer). His only suggestion was a back pressure broblem and I could try new exhaust and a superchip. He did say he was not trying to sell me stuff, but without a diagnostic problem he did not have a answer. So nothing is wrong and My dealer says that gas millage is not a valid service complaint so what to I do now? I have essentially bought a truck I cannot afford to drive. I would appreciate any help.

FOODOG2, hi there, yes you should get way better milage than that. you got to have something wrong with the truck, like map sensor, or reflash to latest code and things like that. when I bought my truck the milage was down but not like yours. I had the dealer reflash the computer and they replaced the MAP sensor and that really helped.I will tell to find a good diesel mechanic or look for more help from this site. these guys are real good at helping , the more you visit here you will learn the people who really know these power strokes, there are many things you can do your self,just by visiting here and seeing what these guys can do. im sure you will find out what is going on with your truck, and get the milage up where it belongs. 01psd
