Bed wood dimensions
Can anyone tell me the distance from the bedside to the edge of the first hold down strip? I am in the process of installing a custom set of wheel tubs on my 53 F100 and only want to mess up one of the wood planks (each side) of the bed floor. I know of no other 53-56 F100's in my area and my truck didnt have a trace of anything when I bought it. (Original owner must have checked the bed floor delete option)
I would like for my wheel tubs to extend to just about 1/8" shy of the first hold down strip.
Thanks

If you still have the crossmembers, measure to the first inboard hole, which is in the center of the first strip. Going at it another way, the boards are all 5.75" wide, and the outer ones are just about flush with the bedside (a little further out). Center of the first strip would be real close to 5.75 from the bedside, in other words.

I measured both sides on mine at 5 3/8" from the vertical bed side surface to the outboard edge of the first metal strip. You should consider having the tub mate up against the metal strip instead of trying to cut the wood real thin between the tub and the strip. That way you could also have the cross sill fasten to the bottom edge of the tube.

You guys made me think of an easier way to go about this. I can measure the distance from the side wall of the bed to the center of the first hold down strip mounting hole, then subtract half the width of the hold down strip.
So, the new question is: Whats the width of the hold down strip?
Thanks for the previous replys,
