I did my CCV mod on saturday. A little later I stopped at my buddies house and left the truck running. When I went to leave I took notice of how much vapor comes out of the tube. Its very noticalbe. I have it venting back under the bed, along side the fuel tank. I wonder how I'm going to hide this when I go for inspection.

Mods you are proud of you don't "hide". Maybe they don't even care about the open vent at the inspection station, anybody know?
As simple as it is to turn it around again, I'd just leave the 3/4 inch hose where it is, and reverse the breather doghouse and un-do the mod for the day of the inspection. You DID save all the parts when you did the mod, didn't you?
They have no reason to ask you about an extra hose. If they do, tell them it was there when you bought the truck and you haven't bothered to remove it 'cause you didn't know what it was for.
How long could it take? The hardest part is running the hose to the back.
No performance gain or anything really it just cuts down on the gritty oil residue on and in the intercooler hoses and all around the intake and turbo. To do it you just get some hose or tubing and route it from the vent on the valve cover out the back of the truck or into the exhaust back toward the tailpipe.
If I was going to put that mod on I would lateral a fitting into the exhaust pipe behind the downpipe somewhere handy and plumb the vent line in there. This at like a 45 degree angle running the vent fumes toward the direction your exhaust runs will draft the vent gases out and burn them up with the heat of the exhaust. You will need to isolate the vent line from the exhaust pipe for the heat, but that wouldn't be to bad...
thats not completly true, by removing the stock CCV sleave and repalcing it with a piece of 4" exhaust pipe you will increase choke flow to the turbo by 15-20% plus by venting the blow-buy gasses out and not into the intake the engine gets pure air, not air mixed with crank case blow-buy gasses
I did the CCV and my wife would BEEEOTCH all the time about the smell. It can smell pretty bad plus when you sit at a light looks like your truck has a problem. I kept it for a while than went back to the original setup. As for power difference I didnt notice any. If you can handle your truck looking like its smokin some then go for it. I did like how it kept the oil out of the tubes and intercooler.
I did try to put a nipple on the side of a 4" pipe to replace the CCV sleave but wound up sucking in oil. Thats why if you look at your CCV sleave its U shapped and the opening is toward the air filter. That keep some pressue on the CCV tube so its not like a vacuum.

Your right, replacing the stock ccv sleave when you do this mod is good to do and I'm sure it helps but still don't expect a major performance difference that you will notice while using the truck. At least not in my experience. Do you really think it increases flow by 15-20% if using the same air filter? I have always thought the filter was the most limiting factor in the intake.
Also if you route the line into the exhuast futher down the pipe away from the engine where temp and pressure is lower don't have less chance of creating a vacuum in your crank case or pumping exhaust into it?
I put a small filter on the end of the rubber hose when I did the mod. I hardly notice the vapors unless I'm standing right beside where the hose comes out for an extended period of time. Then the smell kinda gets to me.
Yep - I ran into the same thing when I did my CCV mod - hated sitting at an intersection and seeing the oil haze wafting out from the back of my truck. I ended up running the hose up into the bed and piping it into my driver's side stack! Yes - you can see it coming out of just one of the stacks - but I've never smelled it, and it doesn't look like my truck is catching on fire at every stop sign. I put it into just one stack to avoid the backpressure problem - of running exhaust pressure into the CCV, instead of it venting out.
