I was at an indoor tractor pull this weekend and they had a street stock pickup division. There was over 20 trucks entered. The first was an 03 PSD Dually. It was a pretty impressive pull, but they put more weight on the sled and when he pulled it the second time he broke the rearend. But when it was all done the top ten were all dodge except one duramax. Kinda hard to be a Ford guy ridin home w/ my Dodge buddy.
Where was this? I went to the Fort Wayne In. ATPA pull a couple weeks ago and am going to the Louv. Ky. NTPA pull this week, never heard of this pull in Ill. Did the truck have to have the exhaust ran all the way up to the smoke shoot or how did they do that? Was Van Haisley there? You would know his truck if it was there!
Place is called Gordyville. They are an auction company. It's east of Rantoul IL on US 136. The trucks were all hooked up to the soot chute. They all had setups attached to the beds. Several had tailpipes behind the rear wheel with a piece of flex over the bed rail. But most had a stack through the bed. Dont know the guy you're asking about, Ford Dodge or GM ?
If I remember correctly both trucks had full pulls, and no pull-off round was done. So it was considered a draw, it was at this point that I left because no more pickups were running. Something may have happened after I left.
Every web site I have been on for truck pulls has had mostly Dodges. Why is that? I live up north and we don't have trucks pulls in my area but it looks like alot of fun.
The Cummins is the most proven, and most bang for the buck (at least in the 12V motor) engine to modify. It makes ridiculous power without spending a ton of money.
The Cummins (Dodge) makes more power then you could ever make with a powerstroke, there are even some fords out there running Cummins in them. The stock head gasket on a Cummins is good for 60+lbs of boost, it is not uncommon for a Dodge to be used every day with 400+hp and a 1000+tq, with about 5 or 6 mods a 12 valve Cummins is good for 500hp+, easy and cheap power, very reliable too...

Yep. Got a 97 F Series 700 (Now a Rollback) that came with a 5.9B Cummins 12v and a six speed straight from Ford. The factory tune kinda sucked, but about $400 worth of tuning and I can haul a wrecked Excursion(rollback and SUV weigh in at about 21000 lbs.) up a steep incline in sixth gear gaining speed all the way. My previous rollback had a 7.3 powerstroke and even with a grand in mods it couldn't pull half as hard. I guess with this one, I've got the best of both worlds.
I might add, if this thing was in a pickup it would haul some serious ***!!
