Brought my truck in today for service, I mentioned the mpg. The asst.service manager said they checked over the truck and every thing was good, but they did reset the computer, or something like that, I forget what he said exactly, thought it would be listed on the invoice along with the other work performed, there is no evidence of a reflash under the hood.
Can the computer be reset without being reflashed?? is there a difference?
He said if the mileage doesn't improve they can do a "bottle test"?? anybody know what a bottle test is?
Ford ain't the only one. I have a neighbor down the street with a Silverado getting 10-11. He's had it in the shop several times and they tell him everyting is in spec. Sound familiar?
I've heard more complaints from Dodge truck drivers than any other brand and that was BEFORE the reintroduced the hemi.
BTW with a 04 5.4L 3.73 FX4 RC, I'm getting 12.5 city/4X4 13.5 city winter 16 high speed highway 18 moderate speed highway.
Unfortunately when I tow my 5th wheel, I get 6-8... ouch. I've decided to stop checking mileage when I'm towing.
I think we could all use some help with gas money. I'm sure some of you already have an account with ING, but they are giving anyone who signs up for their Orange savings account (no minimum, no fees, 2.35% APY) $25.
Nothing like a free quarter/half tank of gas. Leave your email or email me for the referral link with the info. (gte727h |at| hotmail |dot| com)
Nice little Ing plug. You failed to mention that the only reason you need to send the link is so that you get $10 for the referral. Next time be honest about your motives.
04 4X4 . 4.6 Scab.. Just returned from a 600 mile trip. Average MPH 65, 80% interstate, 20% secondary moutain roads.. I got 22.4 MPG, I am extremly happy..
I have an 04 scab xlt 4x4 with the 5.4 and 3.55 in the rear. I get at best 8 mpg. It doesnt matter city nor highway. With or without trailer. I can't drive the truck any easier.
This weekend I took a trip about 2.5 hrs each way. I was on a highway instead of an interstate so My top speed was ~65ish. I averaged 18.8 hwy. Very cool. Warm weather and going slower and I picked up ~2.5 mpg.
Guys/Gals, if you're getting 17 mpg instead of the 20 mpg most of us hope for, and further assuming you buy an average of 25 gallons per fill-up at $2/gallon, isn't worth an extra $8.82 per fill-up to be driving your new F150? It is for me.
I spent way too much on this truck already to pay for false advertising.
You're the kind of sucker that dealerships love. The finance guy tried to pull that on me. "You're getting such a deal already, that you'd basically be getting all these extended warranties and theft protection devices for free!"
