Front or rear? I'm going to be using an 8" long shacle front and rear on my 81 when i lift it up, here are the rear ones i will be using (i built them myself), the fronts are less complicated as they will be just 2 pieces of 1/2 thick steel:

and the backets to use these as a shackle flip:

And the front hangers to match:

On the hangers i still have additional braces to go in once installed one the truck to prevent the bracket from bending.

it will be both the front and rear, i am gona convert my 79 150 4x4 into a 3/4 ton and have leaf springs in the front and i was thinking about building a sub frame type setup to add about 8 inches of lift and posibly some blocks on the springs also so i will beable to clear 46's
i dont know how to put pictures in this thing but i have a drawing of the subframe idea if you want i could e-mail it to you

yeah that would work, but it isn't really all that necessary. And whatever you DO NOT use lift blocks at all, not even in the rear, these will cause you many headaches, and because you are wanting to do use leafs and drop the mounting points, just add a few more inches into the brackets.

It's easy to make new brackets to drop the spring eyes, probably easier than the sub frames idea you have (i can post it up if you want to e-mail it to me, my e-mail is my user name at hotmaildotcom). As all you use is square tubing tied into the frame dropped down the approiate amount, then braced for strenght. What i have pictured up will provide about 7" of lift the way i'm mounting it, if it was to be mounted in the stock locations the lift would be around 9". But check this link out as the guy (proeliater, and ivanribic) has done this exact same thing with droped mounting locations and 44" tires.
