Exhaust temps too high?

What actually happens if the exhaust temps get too high? And how high is acceptable for what period of time?

Just trying to learn all I can.

Thanks

I have run...pulling a trailer...at 1275 for very long periods of time!
My understanding you can see as high as 1350 for a few seconds at a time and not worry....I did type seconds...make note of that!

Many opinions on this question, you will receive more info on this subject...sure glad I got mine in ...now

Tim,
Are the temps you refer to pre or post turbo? I will be adding a pyro, most likely pre-turbo, prior to installing a tuner.

Thanks,
Fred

It better be a pre-turbo figure or you won't have an engine left if it is post-turbo. I have run mine at 1250 for long periods too and have had no issues.
