I would have to say Dodge or the 87-96 GM A-body cars, I have been raised around old Fords and lots of Dodges, Chevs weren't an option because too many people we knew that swore by them were always asking for rides to the shop.
Dodge would be my second choice of truck. I ought to vote Chevy because my uncle is an engineer for them at the Janesville, WI but I just don't like the engines in the new ones. I guess when choosing between dodge and chevy there ain't much comparison but i think I'd go with the Dodge just cause they are tougher and stronger built trucks than the Chevy.
If Chevy still had their bread and butter 350 engine I may change my mind.
GM wouldn't repaint a 15 yr old truck, and you're upset? What am I missing here?
At the time, the truck was only 3-1/2 yrs old, and still not paid for. Sorry.
GM had (at the time) a 'no rust through' warranty. The paint was peeling like crazy (and the body was rusting), the local GM Dealer agreed that it was defective, etc., etc., etc.

My 1994 C1500 was the most trouble-free car or truck I have ever owned. Only if I was looking for a full-size van would I buy a Dodge (Mercedes) Sprinter.
I've had Dodges in the past with no problems. I've always felt they got a bad rap because I never had any of the major/typical woes everyone is always preaching about. However, if I couldn't drive a Ford, then I'd continue scouring the countryside for old Internationals.
Well, quality aside...The Chevy trucks are ugly, but the Rams are REALLY ugly. If I could design a new hood for the Dodge that was more 'aero' and got rid of that humongous grille, I'd get a Dodge. If I was forced to buy one or the other, it would be the Chevy. (I don't believe I said that.)
Wow, I'd really have to disagree with you on that one. I can sort of take the Dodge styling, but I think the Chevys are just butt-ugly. The older ones are okay, but the last few years they've just been getting uglier. I think the Chevy stylists just lost it, almost everything in their product line is really boring to look at, with the exception of the Corvette. I don't really even like that retro-truck, I can't remember offhand what it's called. (Shows you how little I care!) -TD
I would take a chevy before a dodge in a heartbeat! In my mind, dodge has no sense of heritage and is 100% hype. I dont care if they run forever, which they definately dont. Tell me why would a company want to sell a 4x4 truck with a car engine, 20inch rims, and goodyear eagles...or better yet, what kind of guy would buy that truck? Definately not a truck guy! He might as well just settle for the station wagon...
