Exhaust delema
I had recently purchased Flowtech headers for my 96' Bronco 351W. But anyway I was curious to wounder would It be better to put a true dual Exhaust on (cats-back) or a split pipe. The only reason I ask such a question is because I had asked a mechanic to slap a true dual exhaust on (cats back) and he told me that alough its nice to have it would cut my horsepower down due to the reason that the Fuel Injection depends on the back pressure of a single pipe I don't know what the deal is but someone please help me out here thanx

id do x pipes..u have to make the exhaust cross.. sometimes one side of the motor make different noise then the other...call me crazy... try x pipe to dual cats all the way back...just dont go to big on the pipe or ull lose back pressure

An x-pipe or other balance tube is a plus. Torque suffers from a straight exhaust, not horsepower. Torque is what pulls you up the hill or out of the mud. You have an excellent platform to make improvements on with the '96. Get a performance chip and tuner as well as a shift kit if an E4od. If fuel injection suffered from lack of back pressure in generating horsepower I'm pretty sure top fuel dragsters wouldn't have individual straight piped making the most out of laminar flow in the system.

a single exhaust setup will perform better for your application. yet a bassini Y pipe, hi flow cat and 3" pipe out to your choice of muffler. I also suggest waiting on a chip till your finished installing all the mods you possibly can. then you will get the most out of the chip.
