Has anyone had troubles balancing the (2)two gaskets on the cylinder heads? Seems as tho I can't hold the cyl. head tight enough against the lower intake manifold & gasket while making it on the lower guide pins and head gask.. Am I missing somthing ??
(Im only on the driver-side at this time. )
Btw..has anyone had issues "relieving the fuel pressure" after the motor has been torn apart (valve covers and cylinder head) I see what looks to be a schrader-type 'air' relief valve right next to the main fuel rail supply connection. Is that it?!?!?!
Sorry for the two part question..

Not sure from your description what the problem is. Are you saying the gasket moves around while your trying to place the head down against the block? The "V" notch in the head gasket is facing the front of the engine, right?
I doubt there is any fuel pressure in the lines right now, but if want to try and relieve it, go ahead, it shouldn't be different from doing it at any other time.
Yeah the V-is towards the front of the engine compartment. I'm thinkin more and more..that I didnt take enough items off to complete this 'repair' as necessary. I'll advise more of what I find tomorrow.
Try running over to the store and getting a couple of long bolts with same thread as the head bolts. Cut the heads off and screw them in the block to act as guide pins. Unscrew them after the other headbolts are started and put in the head bolts.

That was one of my next things to try...we tried using the old head bolts in the same manner...even went as far as making slots (for a flathead screwdriver)..so I guess when I go back into work first thing monday...i'll try to round up some bolts ...130-150mm lg. instead of the "shorter" factory head bolts. But it still seems as though...the lower intake gasket may still get severely crimped or bent. So i dunno...
