My 92 F250 dashboard is quite noisy. I tried a search on this but am not too search savvy and didn't find anything.
When it's cold, and I turn up the front windshield heat for a while, I get a loud snap (part way through the warming process) from the dash that scares most people in the pasenger seat. Something plastic under the dash is expanding and giving at a certain point.
The dash is also a bit rattly over bumps. Has anyone come up with a solution for this. Maybe rubber washers or spacers at the connection points.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks

I too am experiencing this. Heater/defroster ducts are loudly snapping partway thru warmup. I hope someone has a bright idea to cure these annoying noises. ...Terry '90 F150
The early 90's Fords had dash brackets known to fail and cause rattles. Ford has a bracket upgrade kit speciifically for the problem. I tried a search looking for the ##, but failed.
Call your Ford dealer, his parts guy should know of it. Look at your mounting brackets first, of course.
Thanks for the bracket tip. I seem to remember hearing something about this quite some time ago. I will be checking it out to see if they are still intact. The schematic link was also helpful. Why it happens during warmup may become more apperent once I get inder and have a look.
Thanks for the help.
