Talking 300 Driveline Problem, ideas needed!!!

Hello,

I have a 1991 Ford ext cargo van with a 300ci and 17 bolt C6. The tranny was not getting the right pressure to it and I discovered that the diaphram in the vacuum modulator was bad. So I replaced it and it was driving a lot better, but around turns and at low rpms it still wasnt totally engaging. A few days later the new modulator broke also, so I replaced it again and also added a little more tranny fluid. After that it has been working better, and reverse is like new. Although when putting it in drive I notice that it takes a few seconds to engage. Then when on a hill it will even roll back then forward then back. Like the pressure is changing. Also when throttling it hard there will be a grinding noise, but it doesnt seem to be coming from the tranny. All in all the van still gets up and goes besides the slow low throttle responses. For example on level it will inch its way foward, which is the same speed as if you are lightly on the pedal. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Aaron

Maybe a slipping torque converter? Does it rev up between shifts? Do you ever notice the engine rpms increasing but the van not going any faster when climbing a hill or accelerating?
