I would like to first start off by saying Thank You to everyone who post's on this forum. It has been VERY helpful. I went to the dealer today to look at ordering a new F-250. I'm going back on wednesday to make the final edits to my order. I am ordering a 4x4,V-10,XLT, Super Cab, 8ft bed. The options I've chosen so far are the 4:10 limited slip, trailer hitch, captians chairs, alloy wheels, and heavy duty front suspension. Some things I was also considering are the rear slider (only available as manual), body moldings, maybe 4:30 gearing, roof lights, telescoping mirrors/heated, and two tone paint? I've looked over many post relating to new trruck orders and was wondering what the general consencious is oon some options that may have been overlooked. Like how do you know you are going to have an oil cooler? There is no seperate option for one. Some back ground on my decision. This truck will only see 10-15k miles a year with little highway use. It will see some light duty residential plowing my own properties an on ocassion pull a small trailer (a borrowed bobcat). It's mot uncommon to see it carry some weight as in building materials and some landscape materials. This will also be my daily driver. Are there any creature comforts or functional options that I should be looking at? I would sure like the leather interior and heated seats, but not at the cost of a Lariet to get them. Also I'll have this truck no more then 5 years. All opinions and suggestiong will be Greatly appreciated.

If you are not a regular up there cruis up to the buyers forum above and seek out Jeff and his deals. I used his deals and the same stuff over at the diesel site to con my dealer into $275 BELOW invoice AND rebates that were available at date of delivery.
You should be able to scope out the ultimate in ALL features you might want, see what that will cost and deduct only the most unnecessary items to get down to where you are comfortable price wise. There are several build it and price it web sites that include Invoice prices. I use Edmunds a lot but you must know what is and is not allowed option wise. Example it will let you choose 3.73 gears even if the configuration you selected doesn't allow that option.
Happy shopping... oh yea I highly recommend the trailer tow mirrors, the electric rear window requires Lariat, same with leather but you know that, the cab lights and the snow plow prep package. If you don't intend to go OFF ROAD wheeling it forget the Fx4 package, the shocks aren't that good and you won't need the skid plates. Add in the Upfitter switches and Integrated Trailer Brake Controller.
welcome to fte and a bunch of v10 addicts, fred is our master on the v10's. he will tell you correctly and when done with jeffs help you will have one heck of a rig,
before you buy look at the web site carbuyersedge.com and read up great info to know.
if you are going to plow? snow plow prep is a must have
If you definitely want the leather seats... you can order the XLT Sport Package with the leather captains in black only. Bench seat is only availabe in a two tome black/gray cloth. You are limited on your exterior color choices, only White, Black, Blue, Grey, Red. Monochromatic painted door handles, bumpers, grill and a classy carbon fiber interior highlights and it has black carpeting too. The carpet is so light in the other models... most at the dealership where allready quite dirty. Another way to go is you can order the Lariat without the Luxury Package (which has lots of nice bells & whistles) that way you get the leather seats and without that shinny wood stuff all over. Good luck... it's fun trying to figure out just what you want
Fredvon might correct me (he may have more info) and/or disagree but alot of folks recommend the FX4 package... There has been technical discussion specifically about tighter steering with the FX4. Once in awhile someone will complain about "wandering" steering on the freeway and most of those concerns seem to be trucks without the FX4. Granted, the shocks are marginal but skid plates are always a plus on a 4X4.
Just my opinion- And Good Luck with your new truck
Thanks Again for the Help.
I went in today and they kept trying to upgrade me to the F-350. And for the pricing I did not first realize that they had the X-plan at my part time job. I went back and they quoted me on the F-250 for $31,850 and for the same package on the F-350 it was $1,300 more, but it had 18 inch wheels and a slightly larger pay load. I admit that I wouldn't benifit from the extra payload, but would it be worth it in the long run to spend the extra $1,300 now. This is my exact package of options that I decided on. Oxford white, XLT, Super Cab, 8 ft, V-10, Auto, 4:10 Lmtd, Alloy Wheels, A/T tires, Shift on Fly, 12.5k Hitch, Heated tele mirrors, and Snow Pkg. I was looking at the running boards, but see that many are available for less aftermarket and oem on e-bay.
Are there any things that I may Be overlooking (basic upgrades I may regret not having gotten)?? This will be my daily driver. The F-350 was taller in it's stance (Visually more pleasing to the eye). The pricing was a lot better the second time around. Do you think there capable of doing better? I admit although NY is only a half a days drive this dealership is on the same street and only a half a mile from my house. Origionally they wanted $34,500 before the x-plan pricing for the F-250.
Thanks,
William
The front end feels tighter because of the steering stabilizer, comes on the FX4, snow plow prep, and heavy service front end. Instead of just ordering the mirrors I would order the tow command package which comes with the brake controler and the trailer tow mirrors, might as well go for the 4.30 limited slip front and rear end. All the F-350 has is 2in. taller blocks in the rear making it taller in the rear end, $1000+ is a lot of money for $20 blocks. I would skip the shift on the fly and get the old tried and true manual 4wd, cost less and will last forever. I think Jeff will still be lower then that price, it's your money, what is your time worth???
33PPP PM Jeff with the specifics. If he doesn't beat it I'd be surprised. Haven't seen a dealer go as low as them yet. Doesn't cost you anything to talk to him!
