A mechanic recommended a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank each time I do an oil change. This was something I've never been in the habit of doing, but it seemed reasonable to me. I went to Wally World and omg, there must have been 25 different brands...STP, Gum Out, Valvoline, Chevron, to name a few. Even the WalMart "house brand", I forget the name. They were priced anywhere from $1.60 to $7.00 per bottle.
They all promised the same thing...cleaner fuel injectors and valves. Some were an injector cleaner and octane booster combination.
Anyone have and thoughts on this stuff? Any experience with this stuff, favorites, or stories? Is it more of the same old "tune-up in a can" sort of thing?
many car companys market the chevron techron product under their label. it is a very good working product worth it's price. i use it in all my motors and seem to have very few fuel system problems.
Not sure if you can find it, but I swear by all the Lucas products. I use them in my 85 250, and my 2000 and 2004 pontiacs. I know Advance Auto sells them, dont remember if Wal Mart does.
