Howdy.
I got a grill guard for my 79 at the junkyard for free so i painted it and put it on the truck. I dont know if it looks better without it and just having the chrome grill and bumper, or having the grill guard on the front. The main dowmside is that my bumper sits an inch higher on the right after the wreck and its more noticeable with the grill guard on there. I like it though because it is a good place to mount my lights and it will provide some protection in the event of a minor wreck. I'll post the pics and yall help me decide.
I've got the same year but as a Crew Cab, I kinda prefer the truck with the grill guard. I have to admit though, I'm not partial to the one piec 78-79 grills to start with, I prefer the look of the two piece grills. So a grill guard would probably be my choice
I think the truck has a real classic look without the grill guard and when you paint and all you can adjust your bumper. If you're gonna off road it or ever have possibility of needing to push anyone, keep the grill guard. The large chrome grill is prominent and somehow after looking at your gallery, I just like it without. You can mount lights on or in the bumper should you need to. I have.
Ya, i kinda like it better without. I had the lights mounted on the bumper before i put the grill guard on . The only trouble they would be the first thing to hit becuase they sit allitle forward of the bumper. I think the grill guard will look better with the dark paint after i get it painted. We'll just have to see, hopefully it will get painted soon.
have the guard chromed. i love the look of these chromed out. only cost you $50 or so to get it dipped. I'm gonna pick one up for my truck after i do my 6.5" lift. Then i'm gonna get a winch and my Hellas. Just my opinion!!!!!
No, I'm not really into the chromed grill guard look. I think ive decided I'm going to take it off. I may put it back on after i paint it to see iff it looks any betterwith the new paint job. If I decide to puit back on I will shim it and line it up properly so it sits level
