Wow that is a 406 block!!! The C3AE-6015-V is a 406 block and bet you mine it has 427 thickness walls inside. It's a solid lifter block with oil pressure relief valve and 427 sized oil passages. It should also have the crossbolt bosses but 2 bolt maincaps. All 406 and some early 427 blocks have the HP cast into the block. You will see it on the side, back and twice inside. The 2L27:3 is the date code of is Nov 27th 1962 :3 is third shift. The heads are 428 CJ (nice!) with 73-76 cc chambers and the nice 2.06 and 1.65 valves. The C7AE-F intake is an aluminum PI intake for a 4bbl also very nice. One of the exaust manifolds is odd with a B9 casting number format and from the 50's but the other C8 I think is a CJ exaust manifold but need to check on that to be positive. That is quite an impressive group of parts you have there! G.
Sorry forgot to add the 406 has a 4.13 cyl bore. What are the numbers off the crank and rods?? If it's the original 3.78 406 crank it will have grooved main journals. Look for C2AE-D or C3AE-D on the crank. C3AE-C rods as well. But check to see maybe a 428 3.98 you never know as the engine is not all original but a nice assortment someone has put together. Good stuff! G.
thanks alot...im going to tear it down tommorrow and ill get some crank and rod numbers up!!!this engine came out of a mudrace truck that was never finished.....whats all these parts worth???any one want to make some offers?im in need of a 7.3 non turbo diesel in good running condition
The block depending on the overbore $800-1000+. The heads again depending on milling and condition $500 and up. the PI intake if it's nice with no busted or strippied holes $450 and up. The exaust manifolds I can't comment on not knowing origin but maybe truck items being it was a mudder. If the one exaust manifold if it's a CJ and not a truck application part maybe $200+. Guys will pay dearly for correct date code parts for their restorations. The 406 block is rare being it was only a one year production and most will take anything over nothing for a 406 block. Crank and rods pending.... Is there a Ford dual point distributor there also? If so add $100-150 if its a C0AE,C3AE,C5AE or later CJ style. The CJ style has vacume advance and the other mechanical. Sorry don't know the CJ number for the dizzy off the top of my head. G.
BTW let me know the date code on the heads also. There is a guy on another forum looking for a set of these with a 68 aug-oct date code. The date code is above the C8 number under the valve cover area. Look for a number/letter/number sequence on each. Also check to see if the heads have been ported and such or if they appear virgin stock. G.
I really wanted to put an FE in the pickup I used to have before my 73, 86 Ford F-150 4x4 XLT Lariet. It had and EFI 302, AOD automatic, 4.11's, NP-208 Transfer case. I would have had to change the trans, gears, and probably the T-case. I was a senior in high-school and didn't really have the time (I was a starter on our team and we went undefeated and won state) or a place to really do it. Plus the money so... I would like to do it someday to that vintage of pickup though.
rods c3ae-c rod caps c3ae 2u
main caps 2ae
crank c4ae-b
pistons c3ae6110aa
right exhaust c8ae9431b
left exhaust c8ae9430a (8g26)
build code on the heads right 8c7 left 8h20
hope this is enough info
all the parts look brand new!!!
I'm not sure but here's what I have...
Rods are 63-65 427 rods
2AE on maincaps are correct for the 406 block
Crank is also a 64 427 iron crank with 3.78 std stroke.
Pistons sound like the original flat top but I'll need to lookup the number and exaust mani's also.
Head date codes are 8C7 = 68/March/7th and 8H20 = 68/Aug/20th.
I'll look for the piston and exaust numbers after work today.
