89 bronco tranny probs

my tranny seems to have a hard time shifting gears mainly from third to fourth. it seems that i have to let off the gas so it can change. it slams a little when it does change unless i have it rev'd up a little high. not sure what kind of tranny it is but i'm think its stock. any suggestions?

You said the shifting issue was from 3rd to 4th? Should be an E4od. I'd suggest a complete fluid/filter change and maybe the addition of Lucas or other transmission treatement.
