Has anybody sucessfully played an MP3 CD yet.......I know my OEM in-dash 6 disc is supposed to, but I have tried about 10 different MP3 CD's and noe of them work. There are some threads in the audio forum that arn't getting any responses so I thought I would try here.......
Unless you have an MP3 sticker on the player itself, they won't play. Apparently Ford put info on their flyers and their manuals that they would play MP3's, then didn't put those players in. Only the newest model of the 05's have it.
Interesting, there is however an MP3 light on the screen. It never comes on but if you look at it in the light you can see that there is a light there......
Well if thats the case I'm going to ask for an updated CD player at my next servicing. I also have tried a couple of MP3 CDs in my '04 Lariat to no avail. I just figured it was a bad CD. If Ford is quoting that in their manual and sales than we should be able to get the new MP3 player in our rides. Talk about some false advertisment...
So, other than this sticker, is there a way to determine if we have a CD player that is supposed to play MP3's, besides this so called sticker. Who is to say that this MP3 sticker wasn't removed durring PDI. Isn't the light a dead give-away???

Good luck with that. If you read the fine print on any manual, or basically ANY written document from any company, there is always the clause 'subject to change without warning', 'not at fault for typographical errors', etc.
My 04 FX4 Screw has the standard factory single cd and plays my mp3`s fine.It won`t play the ones I made labels for but I stopped doing that last year anyway.
there is a sticker type label that says MP3 on my radio that is right by the slot for the cd, my cd player has no problems playing Mp3's..............theres no way that the "sticker" could have been taken off.... its the same as all the other print on the radio....

Jim.....
I seriously doubt that if you have an '04 that you're playing MP3s on your player. You can take MP3s and turn them into WAV files and burn them to a CD and play them, but if they're in MP3 format on a data disk, they won't play. I've tried.
that confused me to, I asked a ford rep. and he said it just means that its mp3 ready. So Im still confused what I haft to do. But i didn't get that mp3 sticker anyways. good luck
