I read it in the March edition of Petersen's 4 Wheel and Off-Road on pg. 110 in the Nuts & Bolts section by David Kennedy. It was in the answer to the first question.

Heres the quote from what mako is talking about:

"If someone out there has a photo of an NP 208 that broke because of to much power, send in a photo and explanation to Nuts & Bolts and we'll share it with everyone"

Its to bad the 4wd mags don't start doing more do it yourself tech articles, the stuff that guys building on a budget (like the majority of us are) want to read about. Since i've been frequenting this forum in the last year or so (i've been browsing far longer, but never fully been in here for more than a year) i've found 10 times the tech that the mags have offered ever since i've been reading them. All those "how to install an ifs lift" articals are garbage cause anyone who can read a set of intructions can do a lift install, its stuff like home made bumpers and shackles, or rewireing your trial from scratch, or anything else that doesn't have instuctions is what they need to cover.

[ahem, soapbox time]
It's too bad that IFS is what the world is coming to though. I hate those 'tech' articles myself, but unfortunately that's what people are driving. Most with little to no knowhow to do it themselves. I believe that the articles are written to explain to the owners of the trucks what is going on when they drop their precious rigs off at a "4x4 shop" or give them a feel of what is involved and if they want to go through with it.

They don't want to give out tech articles on how to 'make' stuff. That would take away business from the people who advertise their wares in the magazine.

[off of soapbox]

Sorry, C-man. Didn't mean to sound so critical in regards to your post...no harm, no foul.

Here we are criticizing Petersen's for what we hate, and yet our beloved FTE is falling into the same pit of "Pay a shop to do it", "Whats a welder", and "How much lift to fit..."

Its sad, but true. At least its not happening as fast to FTE and there are still people like Ivan, Fishy, Pro, and everyone else with the long names who all know what thye are doing...

I just pretend like I know what I'm doing. I pretty much just flail around with a torch in one hand and a beer in the other and hope stuff sticks together

Alright goes and buys 20 cases of beer for Pro and Ivan to come to Nebraska to work on my truck. The cost of bribery is astronomical now days. And yes you can bring your guns we like shooting things too.
