ive got an 86 f150 4x4 302 efi, after the truck has warmed up , and either sets truned off or sets iddiling for a while , when you put it in gear to go it stalls and wont start for a little while. when you turn the key it sounds like it wants to start and either doesnt or does then dies upon putting it in gear. after a little while it starts up and goes or after starting it and revving it up and putting it in gear several times it finally will drive.
im baffled, we recently had the distributor out to work on a oil pan /pump problem, and it could possibly be out of time slightly , but it purrs jsut fine at idle , im buying a timing light tomorrow morning ot check it out for sure.
it almost seems like its loading up on fuel , or choking out of fuel, but i dont smell and fuel like its flooding.
any ideas on what it could be or what i can check out.
all help aprreciated.

Since you had recent work done its a safe bet the distributor is off if you didn't retime it. If re-timing it doesn't fix it pull the codes as Imadore said.
well i did some adjusting on the timing and so far it hasnt done it again, and i have much more power . almost seemed like it was only running on 6 or maybe even 4 clys.
