1998 F150 Multifunction Switch

1998 F150 Multifunction Switch

I have a replacement multifunction switch for my truck. I need to know how to get the cover off the steering column. I have removed the 4 screws holding it on but the top half is also held on by the ignition switch.

if you look at the ignition switch from underneath, you will see a small hole with a ball bearing in it. If you stick a small screwdriver up the hole and depress the bearing, the whole ignition will come out. Give me a sec and I'll link to a better write up of this (I had to do this last month)

There is a little release button on the bottom of the ignition switch. Push something up under it to release it and the ignition will side out. I think it has to be in Run.

It has been a while since I changed my multi-function switch, however it installed from underneath the steering column. I am not sure that the top portion needs to be removed form the ignition switch.
