Question Intake Air Temp

Does anyone know how I can get the temp/resistance reading from the thermistor in the intake/ambient air temp sensor? I need to kinda figure out what kind of resistor I need to wire in. I'm trying to make my sensor think that the air is about 20-30 degrees colder. I know one good way is with a scan tool, but i don't have one. Is there anywhere in the odometer display test mode to find out?? I'm just gonna use trial and error to figure out what resistor. However, I need to find a starting place and I also need to be able to see how the sensor reacts with each different resistor. AhHa! Kinda funny that it just occured to me that i could possibly use a multimeter and ambient air temp to figure it out. Would simply back probing it and relating that figure to the air temp (around 40 degrees), and going from there work? On that thought, does anyone know where the temp sensor is located (4.2L motor) exactly? Does this post make any sense? I know, I'm a friggin idiot. Just let that slide, please.
