Guys, I know this has all been talked about on the site here already. I have read for hours on this site and I have never read all that is posted about any one thing yet LOL. You guys have a lot of stuff on here.
I posted this on this site also cause I feel the Diesel I have and the question I need answered about the tranny, is better served here, no affense to anyone on the site either.
I feel now certain I have enough hp and torque with my very late model 95 PSD that I can screw things up on the tranny. I say very late as I found from some of the reading here, it makes a difference with the auto E4OD tranny I have.
So, next thing I figure I better do is a shift kit or enhancement to this tranny before I screw it up for good. I already know the B&M is out for the reading here, some of you have had or know those that have had major burn down with those.
So, which kit do you all perfer to go in the E4OD behind the PSD with the chip that has enhanced the tranny electrically already somewhat. Just a good set of the valve and springs or what??? Please help, I have read so much on here already I am lost... Sponsor here of MotorHaven has the Diablo kit for like 38 bucks, certainly a really good price. I just want whats best for the tranny I have behind this new found power from the stroker.
Try the Sonnax valve and tricumulator springs. Makes the shifts firmer, less slippage, which equals lower tranny temps and longer life. Saw 'em on ebay, not sure if Motorhaven carries or not. Hope it helps. Try searching for Sonnax and tricumulator too.
I can't be of any help on the shift kit but will give you this advice. The cooler line on the E4OD exits the front of the trans, goes to the cooler then returns to the rear of the trans.. This fluid lubes and cools the planitary gears. As the clutches wear this material clogs the cooler and restricts the flow. This causes heat and wear on the planitary. When it fails you will have no forward gears but will have reverse. The easiest fix is to add an aftermarket cooler and bypass the cooler in the radiator.
Mech, I did the cool mod. the very first day I got the truck home from the dealer I ordered this truck from in 95'. I had so much trouble with the older E4OD tranny I had with the truck I traded this one for. Another reason I was wanting to see what some of you guys think would be a good choice of kit or not or whatever to do and strenghten this one up for the extra power I have now...
Thanks for the imput on this and I am sure others will be reading this post as I have been reading the others. We all learn together like this. Thanks again
OK, everyone has gotten tight lipped on me here, let me ask what do you think about The brand Factory Tech Valve body??? Its not cheap but its still cheaper than the Tranny LOL...225 dollars$$$
