96 Explorer fuel pump problems
Yesterday my pump went out on me. I turned my car on and it proceeded to shake and then die. After repeated attempts the car would not start. The car cranks but will not fire up. When I turn the ignition on the pump does not run. This is 1st time this has happened. I drove the car all day and had no prior problems. I checked the fuel pump fuse, changed the relay, and I even checked the inertia switch but still no dice. Any suggestions on what the problem could be?
One thing that I did notice now is that my theft feature on the car is no longer working. I can lock the door and then I wait for the ant-theft to set itself. Then I open the door (through the open window) and the horn does not go off (alarm) anymore. This has never happened. The reason why I bring this up is because the relay that I changed is for the fuel system/ anti-theft feature of the car. Could the ant-theft feature be acting like a kill switch for the pump? Is there anyway to disengage the anti-theft feature? Thanks for any information.
