I have a 64 F100 with the T-98 transmission and am looking to put something with quite a bit of power in. However I dont want to change the transmission out for a different one. Does anyone know what kind of egines would mount on the T-98.
I think the bigger problem is what kind of engines mount in an early style frame within the parameters of work, adaptation and expense you are willing to go for, and then is there a bell housing available for that engine to mount a T-98 trans to it?
64s are still a 1 front + 2 bellhousing side, (front three point) engine/ tranny mounting system. Later, more powerfull engines tend to be a 5 bolt Windsor or other completely different bell housing designs. None simply bolt into the 57-64 style chassis,
Another consideration I'd have is what to do about the early frames' inherent design & mounting set up that tends to not like or tolerate a lot of power the way it came OEM.

If you're looking to get a bellhousing for a FE engine with the "ears", just to let you know i was going through the same thing for my '64. I finally found a proper bellhousing out of a '60's school bus! bolts on perfect on a 390 and T98. got the bellhousing for $20!
I thought the 65 up 4wd bells had the ears. Easiest thing to do would be to beef up a 292 or a 312 and bolt it in. The 312 is a solid lifter engine if I am not mistaken.
