Are taillingts interchangeable?

Are taillingts interchangeable?
When ever I see custom taillights, they are for the specific body style, 80-86, 87-93, 93-96. It looks to me that they all mount the same way. Is there any reason I couldn't get some newer looking taillights from a 93-96 truck and put them on my 85?

take a look at my gallery, these custom ones are designed for the 92-96 and mines a 81, i was told i'd have to drill two new mounting holes as only two of the old ones line up, this is not the case, lights from 80/81 through to 96 are all interchangeable...

Thanks snow-man, thats what I wanted to hear. I plan on getting some original 93-96 taillights for my 85 right now, just because they are cleaner looking. Will look into something like you've got when the rest of the truck starts looking better.
