I am want to add some new rims and tires to my truck. I have a 2004 super screw 4X4. I just don't know much about truck tires. This is my frist truck; I've always owned cars. I don't want to lower my mileage too much buy getting larger tires or spend a fortune. Can someone give me some suggestions on what size rims and tires and maybe where I can get some at a good price.
You need to decide if you want a larger wheel- lower profile tire or a smaller wheel with a larger profile tire. The smaller (18inch or less) wheels with a larger profile tire will be better for off-road driving and may be the look you want. I tried to compromise between the two and get a larger 20inch wheel with an offroad tire. (check out my gallery)
There are many options for wheel/tire setups for the F-150, its just a matter of what style you are looking for.
I don't want to go with a low profile tire. I want the rugged look. I just don't know what size rim I should get. I found some eagle wheels that I like but I'm not sure which one would fit on my truck. For example, if I went with some 18's b/c that's what came on mine. Should I get 18 x9 or 18x10? That has to do with the width of the tire, right? I would like to use the tires that I have on the truck rigth now because they are almost brand new. What is the exact size of the fiactory wheel on my truck? Can some one tell me? Another thing I'm not sure about is how big of a tire can I go without having to get a lift kit or alter the suspension?
04 if you want to use the rubber you have now then you can't go out & get a bigger / smaller wheel because you end up not being able to use those rubbers. If you let us know what the tires are you have on it now it will make it easier to help you w/ that ?
Good luck & if you have ford put the new wheels on MAKE SURE you watch him tighten the lugs. I too would make sure you ask if they've been tightened to their spec's
