I have a 98 2.5l ford ranger my temperature gage goes all the way to hot as soon as I start the truck some times after driving for a few the gage will drop down to where it should be. I know the truck isn't hot or overheating my fluid level is full and not leaking. The hoses get warm and seem to be circulating. The heat works great and I'm sure I'm not overheating! I was thinking it could be something to do with a sensor and am looking for suggestions. Thanks Marc

Just replaced mine on a 94 2.3. It was doing the same thing.
My cts was located on the rt. side of the engine (while looking at it) in the block. Down low.
I gave the guy at jiffy lube a 20 to rplace it. He got kinda burned by coolant.
