Working on building up my F250 4x4 w/C6 attached to a 400. Currently it has a 2bbl carb, but I have my 4 bbl carb, waiting on my intake manifold. Rest of engine is stock. Here are my question.
Should I go with headers or leave them stock?
What type of exhaust system should I go with?
Daul or single?
Truck is a weekend driver and use is during winter to haul sleds?
Any help would be great. Be kind...still learning alot.
You didn't say what year truck this is, but if it's a 400, I will assume it is a late seventies or early eighties. Most all of those trucks if equipped with 4WD are a real bear to put headers under. Not only is it difficult to get them in place, but due to the positioning of the transfer case, it's a real challenge to get pipes snaked from the headers around the transfer case. Since yours is a 250 maybe it's not as bad as mine.
The good news is that the exhaust manifolds, although not the best flowing in the world, aren't all that bad. With a dual exhaust setup and some good 2 1/4 turbo mufflers they flow pretty decent as long as you don't have to mess with a cat.
