Has anyone every thought about mounting a radio or CB above your head next to head liner. And if so how did you do it? What type of bracket system did you come up with?
Steelhorse makes a nice O/H console that fits the '61-'66 cab pretty well and even has a special slot for a radio/CB. Only two colors though Grey & Tan.
I built my own overhead console that ran the width of the cab and was made of plywood covered in the same material I had the seat done in. It attached on the sides at the point where the headliner attaches, at the center where there is a structural support and at the forward center where the mirror is atached (I may have forgotten about the center). There are several problems with this setup though; you have to cut the headliner and you can't use the custom cab chrome above the doors without removing or cutting them. I had a CB, radio, amplifier and speakers in that console and it was pretty solid. I think there is a picture in my gallery under Original '66 or something like that.
