Hi All - I replaced the CAM sensor in my '01 7.3l X (135k miles now) in May of '04 when it left me stranded on the side of the road. In Oct '04, the high pressure oil regulator blew (stranding me again). Friday night, the it left me stranded AGAIN (3 strikes!) Ford dealer says its the CAM sensor and ICP - but they won't do the CAM under wty b/c I've driven 14,000 miles, not 12,200 of the warranty period.
I read all the posts on CAMs, so I'll buy a spare for the glove box (that'll be a site to see! Me replacing the CAM on the side of the road!), but what causes these to fail & how often should they fail?
I love the truck, but being stranded 3 times has me leary.
