Well guys, I never made it to the Ford house today to talk with my buddy there to get the hoe down on the thread size. Will get there Tommorrow for sure.

Funny thing this afternoon happened though, thought worth sharing here with all you gear heads. I was out running the truck checking the air intake mods I made yesterday in the snow. The snow all melted today and this afternoon got really nice out. Flet like I good make a better run on her with better roads...Little did I know how good a run LOL.

Was more than pleased with how the improved air into the truck was, to say the least. Now while I was out rolling back in on the little farm to market road, this nice young man more than eager to run his cummin's short wide bed truck right by me from behind me. Heck I never saw him as I was to busy watch the guages and messing around with the scanner I had hooked up to see what the motor was doing LOL...

Now the good part was I did get to look over in time to see the little cute sweet thing sitting on the passenger side of the truck. She was sweeet too LOL. So who am I to not allow Ford and all our brothers down like this and more importantly, in front of such a cute little darlin' to boot...

Well as you might have guessed it he was able to finish pulling around me as he already was darn near there when I even knew he was in the same area code, besides I was startled by the cutey anyway and had to roll up my bottom jaw...

The Great White Elephant though was quick to match his speed and so I pulled along side of him and I looked over at him while running about 80 at this point. Motioned him to ear the ol'e goat of his and go for it, if you know what I mean LOL... The old tomahawk action thing, you know???

I had noticed he had the big pipe out the back of the 6-banger too so I was not sure yet what to expect. We had about 10 miles if it was needed of nothin' but flat straight black top with only a few rolling hills. My valentine bird dog was on and on the hunt for the mounty's too. So we let'm eat...

Was a good run for about 400 yards where the GWE started to pull the ol'e goat badly. Me not being a sport about this backed out of her enough to let the goat come along side again and stood back on her LOL...I couldn't help myself at that point LOL...

Well to cut this short enough so as not to burn off all the paper here, I still have a hard time typing right now for the S---Eating grin on my face...When I stood on her that last time I never let off till I had to feather the throttle to keep the limiter from slowing the motor. I was looking at the EGT's of 1100 and a boost of 26, like that the rest of the way to the interstate. The air intake really added the boost to her as I have not seen boost like that. Best I had seen was 21...

Now, the really cool part was the fast thinking on my part, was I was so far out of site of the Goat, I pulled into the ditch and waited on the Dodge to get to the highway. As I had hoped they pulled over and rolled down the window on the passenger side.
Got me a really nice visit with them and more importantly a look see at the cutey LOL. Right before we left I asked her if she would like to ride with the big dog in the Ford, heck someone had to ask right??? Why would someone that cute want or even need to ride with the loser back to town after that LOL...

Turns out to be a really good day when things like that come around, beating up on the Dodge wasn't bad either LOL...Sure have to just love the PSD's...This site too, as I have yet to get to read all the stuff on here about my PSD. I have spent the last few hours on here looking before I tried to type this. I knew if I tried to type this before some of the grin was off my face it would like not happen LOL...Tommorrow one of the Ol'e Goat around here may take me, this day and time The GWE got to eat on the goat and in a really big way and I don't kiss and tell, so what I did on the way back to town, besides grin a lot well lets just say it was really good and I enjoyed the ride this afternooner LOL...Laterz

Taken from dieselsitetoo.com advertisement

The High Pressure Oil Crossover Line connects the left and right High Pressure Oil rails together. This allows the computer(PCM) to monitor the pressure of both High Pressure Oil rails, therefore producing a much more even fuel distribution by balancing the oil pressure between the two rails. The line also acts as an accumulator, resulting in less pressure spikes in the system. The result is a smoother idle and all around better running engine.

fetchitupdawg,

I would recommend the hard line over the rubber or braided lines. I've heard of some people's rubber one's developing a leak after a few years. I'm assuming it's from the hose separating from the clamp.

I got my rubber line from dieselmanor, but I couldn't find it on their page so I'm not sure if they still sell them. The one I have appears to be very high quality, but as I mentioned earlier, I keep the original plugs and some wrenches handy just in case.

I didn't notice a huge difference, but it seemed to help smooth the engine out a little and it was a relatively inexpensive mod and pretty easy to do.

OK, here is what I have found so far on the thread pattern for the tap point for the HX line... I pulled one of the plugs from my PSD and used a SAE and Metric thread guage I have to see what is there. Problem with this was that the 20 threads/inch SAE and the 1.25 Metric both fit the profile of the threads LOL.

So I tried to run the 1/2"-20 Thread die over the plug by hand, it runs on the threads but it acts a little wrong if you ask me, so I didn't proceed with that. I didn't have a 12mm-1.25 die to try, but figure its either the 12mm-1.25 or the 1/2"-20 sae...

So in the morning I am off to the bolt store here. I will get me one short bolt of each of these sizes and just see which one this is for as fits the tapped hole in the PSD head. I feel that the threads are the 12mm-1.25 but the guys at the Ford house here said they thought all the threads were sae. They didn't know for sure what this thread was though when I went out there to visit with them about what I had seen...

Really surprized me was that its a straight thread pattern like that with a O-ring seal instead of the NPT or other tapered thread pattern. Either way though works for me long as it doesn't leak LOL. While doing all this yesterday, looking at the plug I removed from the head on the PSD, it looks really easy to me to order two extra plugs with new O-rings, then drill and tap the plug to make the adapter bushing. Say like thread the hole you drill in the plug to like a 1/4"NPT and just get two 1/4"NPT fittings to thread into this that have the flare fitting for the stainless steel tubing on the other side. Looks like the easiest way to do this anyway at this point. Not splitting any atoms here really and we don't have anything other than hot engine oil running through this at 3000 pounds LOL...

Now, my next question here for you guys, why would we have to loop the one hose that is in the driverside back up front a hole to give us that hole for the HX line??? Is there a reason the HX line needs to use these two holes that are pretty much straight across from each other? I under stand it makes a better fit straight across from each other like that, any other advantage for as the working of the HX line?

I just don't like the idea of looping and bending the line already on the head back forward to another tapped point. I don't guess it hurts anything for as the hose, just looks to me a better thing would be to leave that line lay right where it is and run the HX line from the un-used point up front on the drivers side.

Now unless its a running thing with how the pressure is to be equaled out. I don't know that it would make a difference in that??? Now if that has no bearing on how the HX line functions, then its a cost thing with how much of the high pressure hose you have to use. I could see how that could figure up to some dollars if using more hose alright.

So, whats the scoop on this reason everyone moves the one hose forward and shoots the HX line straight across to the two points over the area right behind the filter housing and in front of the turbo??? This area have the biggest drop in oil pressure to feed the injectors in that area of the head on each side with how the oil is pumped and runs through the heads??? Guys I have never been in one of these PSD, so need the info from you that have Please...

This or something else the reason, if I need to use the two tapped points straight across from each other and in front of the turbo, I think I will have to remove the line and shorten it so that I don't have to loop it back over itself and have it look so much out of place. So, you guys talk to me... Lets party

Reading this thread just gave me an idea: Is there any reason one couldn't remove the HPOP and drill a passage in the body of the pump right between the two outlets, creating the HX mod right in the pump? Tap in a NPT plug with some thread sealant to cap off the nice new oil passage replace pump back in truck and you now have a leak proof HX mod.

OK guys, the thread is a 1/2"-20 SAE on the tap point in the heads for the HX line. Got my stacked chips all dialed in also today. Spent quite a bit of time messing around with that all. From making all black smoke to hardly any smoke when you stand on her from 45-50 with the torque converter locked up.

Seems to do best with the Edge-EZ 1000 on the #3 position and then just flip my 6 position switch where I want it. I know with the flip switch on high and the other like it is now on 3, this ol'e 10 year old truck runs like a raped ape. Heck it run good before the stacking of the chips. She gets quite a bit more fuel now as I can see her puffing some LOL...

Going to be a cheaper for sure, I can't wait to tie this truck back up to a big trailer now, Its going to be a lot better at hauling things. Get the tranny valve body in her and fluid and gear oil changed and mess around with the HX-line. She is starting to come right around. Good solid truck still and even better now with the mods on her all getting close to finishing. You guys have a great weekend. Laterz

You know that is a thought I had while messing around with her yesterday LOL. I hope and have planned on using the flip switch to turn her down enough to do the tow. I will have to wait and see if this works as I hope and plan.

Right now I know the temps have been cold enough around here its not been a real issue. Few months when the temps get back into the triple digits, well it may be a whole new game LOL...

Yesterday with a run with 24 pounds boost for more than a few miles I never saw over 900 EGT's pre-turbo. Now that ain't like towing either but I never run no where near that hard with anything in tow either. This was not run at WOT as I have already seen way more boost in the PSD than I like to push the 10 year old with the new mods all stacked up together.

The really funny thing I did see yesterday though while setting up the EZ1000 was with that chip on setting #1 I had way more fuel to the motor than I did in setting #4. Settings #2 and #3 was as I would expect them to be in relation to what power settings those are. This was the main reason I took so much time setting this up too.

I tried this over and over too as I would have never expected to see more fuel to the PSD in the #1 setting than in #4. With the four different settings on the EZ1000 and the 6 settings on the flip chip I have quite a few things here to compair LOL.

I do carry the 3/32" allen wrench in the truck so if the EGT's go to crawl out of where I would rather have them I will be doing something way different on the EZ1000.

So with the chips I have stacked here, where do you think would be a good setting on these for towing? I know the cold temps around here are not going to last for ever. I am ready for summer anyway, I like it hot, just hope my none intercooled PSD can handle the mods that have been throwed at her LOL...

Cool thing yesterday, while I was at the Ford house I use, the shop manager there is going to let me use a lift there this morning to service the two axles lube. Was telling him I was going to weld drain plugs in the two cover plates while doing this and he offered to let me do this in the really nice shop they have.

Said they had the welder and about anything else I could ever need. So who was I to not take him up on this cool offer. I have been using this place for over 20 years and this will be the first time for this LOL. Heck I always felt lucky just being allowed to go out in the shop while they did whatever to which vehicle I had there. The wife and I have always drove Fords and each and everyone serviced there, unless I did the service.

So, needless to say I have a treat this morning. I have a really nice 30X50 shop now to play in LOL, it doesn't have a lift in it or no where near the lighting this place does LOL. I have always done this sort of thing on the ground before. On my older trucks I did this sort of thing on the dirt LOL.

The shop I have now has been a treat already, I will have to be careful while doing this work at the dealership this morning, I wouldn't want to get use to the lift and all the fluffy stuff there LOL. I know I can't afford all that stuff, it would start to look like Monster Garage or something. Thanks for the help dude!!!
