i started having problems with my altinator and everything went down hill from there. i'll start by saying i have a 73 ford crew cab 4x4 with a 300 six with manual transmission. it has dual headers and exhaust, water heated intake and a davis unified ignition with a 390 cfm holley.
i had stopped my truck and then it wouldn't start, after ripping my dash appart, i found the guy that put in the davis unified ignition replaced the resistor with a 20 amp fuse. so a 39 cent fuse cost me alot of headache.
so after i replace the fuse i start the truck and the choke seems to be sticking and it's idle is to high (did not do this before). i stomp on the gas and it kicks down but seems to idle a little high still. i go for a drive and every time i give it gas the choke comes on and when i push in the clutch the engine races, i stomp on the gas and it idle's back down but still seems a little high. this get's very frustrating in town. any idea's what could be wrong.
also the choke is an electric set up. and all of the aftermarket parts are less than 5 years old. also i replaced altinater, voltage regulator.
thanks in advance.

Reason: add parts
no it's hooked to the davis unified ignition. where should it be hooked at. also i have a new set of problems. i left my lights on and after i got a jump i let my truck warm up and turned on my lights and it wanted to die. then i tried to drive and it dies. i had to get a taxi home from work. this is getting very frustrating.
