First off, hello everyone this is my first post on this forum.
OK, let my explain. I have an '02 F-250 7.3L 4x4 crew cab. I have found that my overhead console is fairly accurate on MPG. Mostly in town I would get 14.2MPG, witch I thought was low for stock. So I convenced the wife on the Predator. Now don't get me wrong I love this thing. I can't wipe the S. E. Grin off my face when I stomp on that diesel pedal!! Anyway, I tried the Predator at the 40HP setting at first and got 20.2MPG all highway and 17MPG in town (console). Needless to say the misses was sold. Next I tried a full tank on the 60HP setting and at one point I saw 26MPG on the console, but by the end of the tank I had a mixed avg. of 19.3MPG. I thought this was too good to be true... gas mileage of an import and power of a drag car. So I broke out the calculator and there it was 14.4MPG?? Does the Predator affect the overhead's calculations?
It really doesn't bother me that much if it does. Just as long as the misses doesn't find out!
Thanks for the input.

I've heard that most chips really mess with the overhead consol. I not familar with anything that can be done to fix it either.
True. My son-in-law has a chip in his SuperDuty, and the computer is way off. He's tried several things to get it corrrected, but nothing seems to be working.
I have the preditor installed on my 2002 F250 CC 8' 4X4, and it does mess with the overhead console. I have noticed that on the highway it is usually about 5 to 7 MPG off and around town about 1 to 2 MPG off. Have you gotten rid of the stock air box yet? and gone to a aftermarket filter. I usually average in the summer 16 - 18 around town and 20 to 22 on the highway if I keep my foor out of it.

What setting do you get the best mileage?
I've taken out the stock box and replaced the stock filter with NAPA 6637 filter. I thought 14.2MPG was low. With my overhead console working I've never even seen 16MPG.
Does anyone know why the programer/chip effects the console?
I would not worry about it so much. I can't say I know if or why, I run Predator repro and love it. I run the 60 some, and switch back to the 40 sometimes just to do it. I think the 60 gets the best mileage. I pull a lot and sometimes unsure what weight on trailer compaired to their recommendations and drop it back to towe just to be safe. I got my money out if Predator when I had a torque converter seleniod switch go bad, when they were going to drop in a whole new torque converter, it told in english where the problem was on the diagnostic program and I went from a expensive part to a 60 switch. So I love that there predator after that.
I run the 60 horse tune most of the time. When I first got the tuner, I talked with Dianlosport about the overhead console being wrong. They said since the programmer is changing fuel curves and pressure etc.. that it fools the overhead console. I have completely removed my air box cover and piping. I have replaced the pipe with a polished piece and a 6" cone off road air filter. I still need to do my exhasut and gauges. The best I have done is driving home from Boston, I have a roll up bed cover, Kept the truck at 65-68 at the pump pulled 22mpg. not bad for 7500 lbs.
Mine has done 19 with 305's and 800lbs of snowmobile crap in the back, but that was right at 2k RPM. Running it harder (75-ish) It will dip down to the 15 range.
