Changing From 2 to 4 Barrell
I have an 84' f-150 with a 302. It currently has the original 2 barrell carb and intake on it. I want to change it to a 4 barrell. I would like to use an edelbrock performer intake with a holley carb. Can I do this without failing emissions testing? I'm in Tennessee.

Check and see if your distributor has a vacuum advance. If no, you might have to change it to a duraspark II. If it has the can with the vacuum line going to it, you should be ok. If you get a holley or an edelbrock, both manufacturers have emission carbs and non-emission carbs. The non-emission carbs are tuned with richer jetting, and may be borderline for passing emissions. If they have a underhood visual inspection, it may not pass anyway, but maybe you could hide the carb under the original aircleaner. I would keep the aircleaner and the hook-up to the exhaust manifold pipe anyway for wintertime driving.
