i'm getting ready to buy a cowl induction hood for my 01 f250 7.3 and i was wondering if you guys knew of any good companies to buy from. i was looking at reflexxion for a steel hood. does anyone know of a good fiberglass hood? oh yeah, i want it to be functional and money is not an option. (i like to do things right the first time) thanks for your input. i would also like to know your opinions on the ram air hood vs cowl induction
I bought mine here http://www.truckn-store.com/product_list.asp?id=2121
for 3 reasons:
1. It's a local store for me and I inspected it before I bought it.
2. It's a functional cowl and it is split cowl, just like the looks better then the flat full cowls.
3. It's steel, fiberglass can have some dips and valleys that require lots of prep before painting, etc.
I did speak to a few body shop guys that have PSD's and Ex's of their own and they all have said that not all hoods fit perfectly and be ready to accept that. I have heard good thing about the Reflexxion hoods.
Ok ok, please break it down simple for Orezona...what's the advantage of these 2 hoods? I looked at them and would want one based on looks alone. Is there also a performance advantage to them? Thanks in advance for the schooling.
There really is no "advantage" too any cowl hood. Strictly looks.
Some hoods have actual breather holes punched into them at the end of the cowl. Others don't.
Just another something to spend our hard earned $$$$$$ on.
Some ram air hoods are functional and have cut out in the scoops. Supposedly channeling air to the air box areas. Also claim to extract hot air out of the engine bay.
Yah, I thought I'd seen a site on "functional" Ram Air hoods. But, it seems like since I found this site I've read soo much it's hard to keep it all straight. Plus, ya know when you read about a product on a site you're just reading advertising. So I find it's better to hear it from "the street" so to speak. Thanks again.

you can go to stylinconcepts and look for hoods there, they have cowl induction, ram air, and heat extraction. the cowl induction is different than the one on the other website earlier in the thread.
