I have a '00 f250. I was on a long trip and noticed that my truck would pour out white smoke when I let off of the gas then accelerated. When I did accelerate the truck would hesitate and put out the white smoke. Does anyone know what this could be? Thank You!!!
I recommend doing the CCV mod. If this only happens at high speeds I suspect you are on the verge of diesel runaway. Basically the engine is making so much blowby that it's blowing crankcase oil into the turbo intake and running off of it. (White smoke)
The CCV mod will redirect the crankcase fumes down onto the ground instead of forcing your engine to injest them, (no harm done, just oily messy)
I have lot's of stories of the old VW diesels going 75 mpg on the freeway with thier foot completly off of the accelorator pedal. The only way they could slow down was to overcome the engine with the brakes. Once the rpm came down then the excessive blowby subsided and the engine settled down. The cure is/was to: Rebuild the engine or put in a 5 speed trans with overdrive gears or to put in that breather hose to get the fumes away from the intake. Most people chose the breather hose route for obvious economic reasons.
