300 & FE (352, 360, 390 as well as the other family engines) use the same perches. I am not sure about the other, and would not consider it personally.

Having a 66 crew, I found a few things....

First, what truck series it? 100 and 250 have a different style fram than that of 350 and up.

Mine has a 240, which uses front mounts and bell mounts. They have a similar set up for the FE for the 350, but those bells and front perches are kinda rare, I only managed to find 1 set anywhere.

Forgive me if I am wrong John, I thought the 240 / 300 used same as small block for mounts as opposed to FE... I6 and SB one style, FE another, and then 351m/c -429-460.

Not sure what you will find available as far as mounts, but be sure to get them from a correct set up or they will not work.

I was gonna plop a 390 in my crew till I figured out I would probally burn 3 times as much gas as I do now with the 240. Might upgrade to a 300, and I am gonna put in a 4 spd OD in place of the 4spd granny. Last big trip with crew drove about 1100 miles on 65 gallons. try that on a FE LOL. (now i was not hauling heavy and mine although a 350 frame is on 100 running gear)

unless you want a V8 in there, that 6 will do ya fine and I personally would get another 6 or rebuild the tired one. But that me, do what ya like fer sure!

Hi Ron, Last time I saw one, (on a 66 that I parted out) the perches were the same for the 240 & FE.

High 16s for that big ol truck of yours is darn good, better leave it alone.

After driving my 240 for a while and doing a little research i agree with Ron I would keep the 6 if it is a 240 upgrade it to a 300 They are great engines stock and with a little head and exhaust work they are even better.
