Im planning on changing the cab on my 79 F250 4x4 manual trans. I have been searching this forum on cab swaps, and collecting all the data I can. My question is.... has anyone documented the steps to do a cab swap on a 79? If so ...where might I find the information?
whd507 is right! pretty simple on these old trucks, just take your time disassembling the cab. I have done this a few times and i prefer to take off the doors and gut the interior to lighten up the cab (even a empty cab is quite heavy)
I just changed the completa body of my 79 350 4x4 with a 77 250 4x2, pretty easy, for the cab, I recomend separating the front clip, fenders hood grille, to make it easier, afer that use 200 lt barrels and long beams, not a difficult task with 2 people.
the only thing was that i had to cut thethe floor for the 4x4 manual hump, the auto flor is marked were to cut,
now i just need to swap the 460 for the 400 and done deal,
paid $500 for the 350 4x4 custom, manual with a 400 dual tanks
and $400 for the 250 4x2 ranger xlt camper special auto with 83k miles,
still after getting the 2 trucks is a good deal i think
