Greetings. I have a 1988 E150 with an EFI 5.0. There's a component that I'm thinking of reloacating to do some cleanup/mods and I'm not sure what it is/does.
The part is mounted to the driver's side radiator core support immediately adjacent to the horn. It has what appears to be a vaccum line or cable running from its side (the middle of a round, flat section about 4" in dia.) to the top of the throttle linkage. It also has a harness that connects from its bottom and runs down along the fenderwell towards the firewall. What is this component and what considerations should I make for any reloacation/replacement work.
Do you have a picture? It sounds like the charcoal box that filters gas fumes from the fuel tanks. The vacuum line to the throttle body is for purging the box.
I know it's not the charcoal box. That's located on the passenger-side frame-rail about half-way back on the frame. This contraption looks like a mini-master-brake cylinder, but only connects to the throttle body and the wiring harness. I'll try to post some images later.
