I replaced everything from one outer tie rod to the other, axle pivot bushings, lower ball joints. The suspension on this truck was so far gone.I counted threads on the old parts to make sure they were installed close to correct, but now this thing goes down my dirt road and wants to visit the ditch.Any suggestions on how to shadetree align so I can get it to the shop?
Measure the middle to middle of your rear tires and then use that measurement to align the front. It wont be perfect but it'll get you on the right track. Disconnect the front tie-rods on both the left and the right knuckles. Kick your tires to where your front tires middle tread is where you measured the back. Now, adjust your tie-rod ends to fit into the knuckles without moving the wheels any to make them fit. Snug them down and you should pretty much be aligned, enough to make you happy anyway. Good luck, and yes I've used this method before and it works, in the "shade tree" market anyway
