I got my exhaust done late november/early december. When the guy did the exhaust, the cat's came off. He then just torched the air tube completely shut. So therefore no flow for the air pump, and I have a clattering that seems to be coming from the air pump. Did I blow my air pump? Also, anybody know how to find out how long of a belt I should get? Can I go to the store and order a belt OTC that is designed to bypass this.
When I had my true dual's put on I went through the same thing with the smog pump. The easiet way to bypass it is right in the parts stores parking lot . Just start with a belt that's about 3" shorter than the stock one and go from there. If it doesn't fit keep swapping them out until you find the one you need. My guess is a belt in the 87"+ range.
Assuming you have a serpentine belt, there's an aftermarket fox-body shop that makes a 302/5.0 smog pully idler replacement. It's about a hundred bucks, but will keep everything else "Stock Size" up front: http://www.windsorfox.com/images/items/idlsp.htm
