I just wanted to follow up on a question that I posted at the beginning of the month asking about performance distributors. I had a petronix ignition, petronix flame throw coil and my old distributor's vacuum advance had been curved for my truck. Its a 1973 highboy that I restored (pictures in 1973-1979 gallery under Bob's Truck). Anyway, I always felt like the engine wasn't putting out everything she had, so I put on a performance distributor. I opened my plugs up from .42 to .53 set my initial timing at 14 degrees and I truely could not believe the difference in my engine. More low end torque, smoother cold starts, more power, better mileage... So to answer my own question and if anyone else has this question - is it worth the 379 bucks - yes!
Thanks for the info. I've been very interested in the Performance DUI setup...BUt, I've already gott several hundred invested in the MSD...SO I better try and make it work first.
Good to hear man. I was asking about the DUI a while ago, read only good about it. Gonna use it on my build up here soon.
Good stuff. Bit pricey, but worht it for sure.
DUI might SEEM pricey but once you buy modules, distributor and stuff for MSD (or others), you have paid what the DUI costs. main reason I went with it on my build. Looks awesome too.
