Hello to all of the FTE users. I usually post and read under the V-10 site as my truck is a F250 with the V-10. I just trader my wifes 97 EB for a 03 XLT Expy(4.6l). I love the looks and style but I hadn't driven the truck 20 miles from the dealership and it started dieing on me every time I let off the gas or braked really hard. It only has 33K on it and appears in good working order. The 'check engine soon' light finally came on after about 20 times stalling out on me. It would always resart but I had to take the key out of the ignition and wait about 10-seconds. I read some stuff about gas caps, fuels, water in fuel BS in the manual but I can not imagine that it would be the cause. Is anybody else experiencing this? I am a true FORD fan but this is a huge black eye. Any input would be helpful.
Too many possible causes to even begin to guess what's wrong with it. Should be some warranty left... get it to the dealership ASAP and let them worry about "fixing" it.
Well I got the Expy back from the dealer yesterday and it end up being a faulty crank sensor. The repair was covered under warranty. I asked them if they did a diagnostic 'cat scan' on the truck to make sure that there were no additional issues or codes and they told me that their cat was sick and his feet were muddy so he probably would leave paw prints on the hood. HAHA.
Now I just have to RE-convince the wife that the vehicle is reliable! She talked like she wanted a Tahoe until she drove the Expy and liked the ride and handling. She better get used to it because the only other vehicle we have is my F250 4x4 and she couldn't park that thing on a runway at DFW airport. Jeeeezzzz.
I will keep more current on the Forum than I have been in the past. I just moved to Texas from Nevada and forgot how much great information and support that these site provide. I'll keep tabs on the wife's EXPY and post and read when applicable.
