carb problem

carb problem
ok where do i start 91 ford f 150 xlt swb 4.9 six
i bought this truck for 1000 bucks this is how it was
they have removed the throttlebody
and replaced it with a carter motercraft carb
and whatever manifold is on it
started out with one bad oil leak
found that it needed a new valve cover gasket
that was fixed and changed the oil to shell rotella 15 40 t
and fram PH8A
then after doin that notied that the carb was flooding out
spewing gas out of a couple places after it idled down
i have pics showing where its coming from theres a little
port on the bottem of the bowl on the left front
i would like to get everything back to orig
but i fear that that would cost to much
my mech said i need to replace the stock tranny with a c6 i think he said
if i was to keep this setup
my question is should i try to get this carb rebuilt of look for a diff one???
any help would be appreciated
