Ford F150 - 4.9(300) I6 - 4x4 CARB ISSUE
Well, after replacing the MAP sensor the truck starting running much better. The issue, as a mechanic friend of mine pointed out, that the carb is sitting right over the manifold. This is why it was randomly sputtering after it ran for a while. The Carb is choking out after its been exposed to the heat rising from the manifold. He suggested ordering a riser for the carb to attempt to get it away from the heat. Is this the right way to go? He also said I would be able to convert to EFI though at the moment I just want it to pass emissions testing.
Is this a common problem to have on the 4.9?
Where would I find this riser to lift the carburetor up an inch or so?
IF I wanted to convert to EFI would it be expensive? Worth it? Or will the carb riser resolve the issue?
