Steering wheel replacement

I have a new grant Steering wheel for our 82, and the appropriate installation kit.

Ive never done a steering wheel before, is this a simple project, or a PITA?

Anything to know before I tackle it?

I am assuming that you do not have cruise control...

This is a piece of cake as long as you have a steering wheel puller... 1/2 hour tops

It's actually really easy. You don't even NEED a steering wheel puller if you are strong!

First turn your steering wheel so your 2 front tires are facing straight.
Take the middle cover off the front via 2 screws on the back.
There is a big nut underneath that cover that you will need to take off. Loosen it about two full turns.
Now you need a friend for this unless you are strong. Get under the steering wheel with both your arms/legs and bang on the center stud (where the big nut is) with a hammer. It may take a few sharp blows but it will come off.

Good luck!

-Matt

P.S. That nut I told you to just loosen and not take off, will prevent the steering wheel from flying off in your face when it finally breaks loose.
