Hi folks. I'm having a problem with my '79 f250, a few days ago the electrical system went out. all of it. I found the wire on top of the alternator (blk red stripe) shorted to the alt. i changed that (i thought) with a new fuseable link. The engine cranked but will not start. also there are only marker lights working, the heater fan works, the headlights do not work at all. also put in a new vol reg. any help out there??? thanks , Jack
As I said in the old thread, if it won't run, you might have burned out the ignition module. Also if you had a very large voltage spike, you could have burned out the headlights too. Take one of them out and hook it straight to a battery charger or battery, and see if it works. If it does, I think you have more fusible links burned out over near the starter relay.
