Gauge questions

I made up my mind and am getting ready to buy the SCMT 1704 and some gauges. I'm probably gonna get the autometer I haven't really looked into any other brands. I am looking at getting the pyrometer and the boost gauge. I know on the pyro i will probably hook it up before the turbo in the exhaust manifold. The question i had was where do you hook the boost gauge up at because i didn't know how it would work with the eletronically controlled turbo. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Also whats are safe EGTs for pre-turbo.

I removed the cast aluminum elbow on the front top of the engine (right behind the shroud, drivers side boost tube runs into it) acually going into the manifold. Drilled and tapped it with 1/8npt. I wanted a post intercooler reading. I was four bolts and a hose clamp. No gasket just a o-ring.
