Thank you very much that is just what i wanted to hear i have a friend that will sell me one for about 2 grand we just rebuilt it and someone ran into his parked truck so he dosent have ne where to stick it so hes gonna sell it to me for like 2 grand
If its 2wd its pretty easy, just get some mounts for a 460 from a parts store, you'll need a bellhousing and flywheel if its a manual, and a transmission if you have an automatic.
yes its 2wd i currently have a 360 with a c6 i figured that i would need a tranny what would be my best choice since im pullin the tranny ne way
Thanx
Don
since you are already set up for an auto tranny, go with the C6. But the C6 for the 360 won't work. They are two different bellhousing bolt patterns. And since the tranny's are one piece, you'll have to get one for the 460.
What tranny is in your friends truck?
thats what i was thinkin to but im not sure where im gonna find a 390 i would like to go with the 390 if i could find one, but ive had one hell of a time finding one and if i do its completley trashed i found one that somebody looks like threw the thing off a cliff or drug it down a road behind there truck or somthin its totally demolished so if i can find one i would like to go with it got any places to look
Don
Got me there, I haven't lived in MT since '93. I used to live in Billings, but I don't remember if there where any decent boneyards around. But, it's been so long.....
Mattsbox99 might be able to point you in the right direction.
Use the parts such as mounts, exhaust, rad, what ever he will give you from your friend`s truck. Buy the whole truck from him if you can as it will suppy all the parts that you will need. Parts from a 1979 and older Ford truck will fit your 69 just fine. I think that you will be happy with a 460 except for the fuel but not that much worse than a a 390 I would think.
I have a '72 F250 4x4, and just got it back from my buddy in Ronan, Mt. We put a '73 460 in and the matching C6. Tough fit, but I am more than happy with it. WAY MORE POWER than my 390!!!

We are pleased you have chosen the best source for Fords!
If you want a 390, all you need is the crank kit and a set of pistons, you can them get from Napa or Carquest... we sell them too, but I don't know how close you are to bumper to bumper.
You will need exhaust, but the 460 was factory that year in that truck, so you should be able to find a set of manifolds or at least a set of headers.
